These are not chain-based establishments. These are owned by hard-working poor people that love their community. They create jobs for locals that usually work, live, and play within earshot. The conversation is typically great, the food is spot-on, and the service is friendly.
When you’re on the road, the strangers in these establishments become your best buds in passing. Since I travel a lot, I felt like should make a blog for every place I eat at once or frequently.
I plan to include a really good picture of each menu. A short review of my experience, a link to the website with the address/contact info and a google map link.
If an establishment “makes the cut” – the name and link to the business goes on this list.
Florida Restaurants Near Me
Nice and Easy – Orange City Florida
2109 N Volusia Ave, Orange City, FL 32763
Menu

I always stop here on my way to Blue Springs State Park. It’s only about ten minutes from the entrance, when you are leaving the park just turn left at the pizza place and go about a mile. It’s on your left. I always liked it here, it’s dimly lit and the music is awesome. The layout of the spot is very spacious and open. The food is fantastic. Please try the Slaw Tacos or The Bumpas. GREAT BURGER. NICE SPOT. Juke box, two pool tables, and a strong pour.
Cocky Rooster – Deltona Florida
1382 Howland Blvd, Deltona, FL 32738
Breakfast Menu, Lunch Menu, Dessert Menu

The Cocky Rooster is an institution. Don’t be FOOLED, there is a “day version” on the right, it’s more of a restaurant. BUT NEXT DOOR is a full BAR with pool tables, karaoke, and darts. The music is great, the bar is very open, and the locals are extremely friendly. I really enjoy the chicken wings and the bacon cheeseburgers. Strong pour, and everyone behind the bar is fantastic.
The Hideout Kitchen & Cafe – Riviera Beach Florida
7547 Garden Rd #202, Riviera Beach, FL 33404
Menu

This is where you go when you want a good mid-shift lunchbreak. The food is awesome and comes hot and fast. If you are heading East or West cutting across Florida, this is the last place you want to stop at before you have to go do your important thing. I always get the breakfast platter with the bacon. I like how salty their bacon is – it’s crispy and not sloppy like some bacon. The coffee kept coming. Hell yea!
